The Institute of Directors’ Director of the Year Awards celebrate business leadership across the UK, with regional ceremonies in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man. The project required a consistent yet flexible design system to ensure brand cohesion across multiple nations, while allowing for regional distinctions.

The project required a design system that was consistent with IoD’s brand yet adaptable to reflect each nation. The solution was to colour-code each branch using IoD’s core palette, creating a visual identity that was unified but easily distinguished across regions.


My role, process and execution

Worked closely with each branch’s team to deliver both promotional and event materials. This included developing early-stage assets for LinkedIn and Instagram campaigns, encouraging applications and participation months ahead of the awards, and collaborating with internal teams to tailor outputs for each nation’s needs.

Produced a wide range of deliverables spanning the entire lifecycle of the awards. Promotional graphics were followed by event collateral such as printed programmes, table plans, and stage artwork. On the day of each ceremony, bespoke event slides were created to announce finalists and winners, complemented by branded stage wraps, lectern artwork, and signage. All outputs were designed to strengthen the IoD brand, elevate the atmosphere of the ceremonies, and deliver a professional, celebratory experience.
